The Holiday Cocktail – A Recipe

WHere is a simplified version of a beverage featured on a new cocktail list. It's a party-sized prepared mix that's bursting with the tastes associated with holiday season, making it ideal for hosting a festive gathering. Reserve the remaining citrus syrup to use in morning drinks, desserts, or to make additional servings of the drink.

Yields 10 servings

For the Clementine Cordial (yields 750ml)

300ml recently pressed clementine juice
200ml recently pressed lemon juice
500g caster sugar

Ingredients for the Drink (makes 850ml, enough for 10)

400ml good quality vodka
100ml London dry gin
150ml peach-flavored liqueur
200ml clementine cordial (see above)
Fresh cranberries, to garnish
Mandarin essential oil, for finishing

Directions

To prepare the Citrus Syrup: Combine all the ingredients inside a pan, heat until it reaches a simmer, mixing so the sugar melts. Next, turn off the stove and leave to cool fully. Transfer into a sterilised bottle, cap it and store in the refrigerator, it can be stored for around a month.

To make Premix: Pour the specified spirits and syrup into one large bottle, leave to sit for one hour, then strain best through cheesecloth, so it's completely strained.

For serving: Measure 85ml of your premix into your stirring glass containing ice, and agitate gently for a minute until cold. Pour to a frosted cocktail glass or similar, garnish with some cranberries and complete it by giving it a brief mist of the essential oil over the drink.
